Victoria's Solar Homes Program

If you’re in Victoria and are thinking of installing solar or a battery, the great news is there are two Solar Victoria schemes that you can access to save money:

In an effort to help Victorian households reduce energy costs and shift to solar energy, the Victorian Government set up Solar Victoria to deliver the Solar Homes Program.

This program plans to enable the installation of solar panels, solar hot water systems or batteries on 770,000 homes across Victoria in the next 10 years.

As part of the program, eligible households can apply for a rebate ($1,400), or they can apply for both a rebate and an interest-free loan (of up to an additional $1,400) when purchasing and installing a new PV solar system.

How does the program work?

Once you decide to order your solar system, you can apply for the Solar Victoria rebate or continue your order without it. 

When you opt-in to apply for the rebate, we upload your quote to the Solar Victoria portal. The quote information includes:

• Your system size.

• The amount we estimate it will generate.

• The amount you’re likely to save. 

Once uploaded, Solar Victoria will email you to ask you to begin your side of the application. If you have the required documents ready, it should only take you 10-15 minutes to complete. 

Once your application is approved, you’ll receive an Eligibility Number from Solar Victoria. You must then upload this onto the Wattle Powr platform to finalise your order. You will also receive a QR code to show your installer on installation day.

When the installation is complete, we will then deduct the rebate from your remaining balance, along with the interest-free loan if you’ve decided to apply for it. 

How does the interest-free loan work?

The interest-free loan offered through Solar Victoria is managed entirely through the Government program. We have no involvement in the repayments and are not consulted in the approval process beyond our requirement to upload the quote information.

Under the program, the interest-free loan can be approved for an amount of up to $1,400. In addition to the rebate, this will be applied to your remaining balance. 

Depending on the cost of the system, the remaining balance then needs to be covered by the customer. If there is no remaining balance, there is no remaining cost to the customer after installation.

Wattle Powr requires a deposit to order your system. If you have a remaining balance, this deposit is deducted from it. If you do not have a remaining balance, the deposit is refunded after installation.
