Site inspection - Rebate Swap for Solar

Modified on Fri, 13 Oct, 2023 at 6:06 PM

Before a UPowr Certified Installer installs your solar system, they may need to come to your home to do a site inspection.

How to prepare for your site inspection?

Your site inspection will take around 45 minutes, and your installer will use it to plan how they’ll safely complete the installation and to check a few things in person.

On the day of your site inspection, you’ll need to make sure that:

  • someone over the age of 18 is home
  • all pets are secured
  • the installer can access your roof and enter your home (so they can work out how they’ll run cables).

What happens during a site inspection?

For solar system installations, on site inspection day, your installer will:

  • plan how they’ll safely access your roof
  • check that the solar panels will fit nicely
  • work with you to find a good spot for the inverter
  • plan the cable run from the solar panels to the inverter
  • check that the inverter can connect to your home internet or WiFi
  • check if your switchboard needs any upgrades.

During the site inspection, they may identify things that require a change to your quote (for example, if a switchboard upgrade or fire protection is needed).

Who covers the cost of variations?

If the variation is required to safely install your free 3kW base system, the NSW Government will cover the cost of these variations up to a certain limit. If any variations required exceed this amount, they will need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

If you have requested any variations to suit your personal preferences, these will need to be covered by you directly as an out-of-pocket expense. This might include any specific customisations to meet strata approvals or for the aesthetics of your roof.

What if I have any specific technical electrical questions?

If you have any questions, just ask your UPowr Certified Installer. They’re experts at what they do, and they’re there to help.

Note: All UPowr Certified installers have had a police check and working with children clearance.
